Playoff Hopes

Purdue will host Illinois for a noon start time. The boilermakers now have to win 3 of their last 4 games to make it to the postseason. After losing their last two games by a combined 3 points, we will see how these Brohm lead boilermakers will fight back. This is a game where the boilermakers need to take out all the anger of the last two weeks. Illinois has played 22 freshman this year, 15 of which play regularly. Purdue is a 14 point favorite, which is the first time being double digit favorites since 2011. If the Boilers still have bowl hopes, this is a must dominate. The Boilermakers have to gain the confidence back that they played with in the beginning of the year.

Flashback Friday

As of Friday the Purdue injury report looked like this. McCollum and Fuller, doubtful. Bentley, Swingler, and Hunte, “Hopeful”. Herdman game time decision. Hermans is out.

Keys to the Game

The Illini focus this year has been takeaways. They have recovered 8 fumbles and have 7 interceptions on the season. The Illini will be looking to turnover this Boilermaker offense, which is lacking major confidence in the throwing/receiving department. Purdue must take care of the ball. As for the other side of the ball, Purdue lost Hunte in the second half of last game. After Hunte went out, the Cornhuskers threw the ball with ease on the Boilermakers. If Purdue is healthy, keep doing what your doing. If injuries take over, who will step up?

Brohm lets his offense loose and they gain the confidence back. Although the injured defense allows the Illini to make some big plays. This will be somewhat of a sloppy game, but the Boilers edge it out.
