Notre Dame Volleyball (NDVB) won against Virginia 3-0 on Sunday, earning their ninth sweep of the season. NDVB improved their overall record to 19-8 for the 2017 season. The Fighting Irish only have four more games left on their regular season schedule.
Notre Dame Offense Defeats Virginia
The Irish finished the three-set win today with an attacking percentage of 71%, towering over Virginia’s 54%. Jemma Yeadon led the Fighting Irish in number of kills with 13. Sam Fry had the best attack percentage with .600, going 9 for 15.
Each set made Notre Dame battle, but they won each – 25-18, 25-22, and 25-17. This set Virginia back to 7-20 overall record and 3-13 in the ACC. The win for NDVB boosted their ACC record to 9-7.
Notre Dame’s Toughest Defenders
The Fighting Irish put up a hard fight defensively against Virginia as well. Sydney Kuhn led Notre Dame with 16 digs, followed by libero Ryann DeJarld with 15 digs. These two players are necessities for ND Volleyball’s defensive plays each game as these two continue to perform above expectation.
Overall, the team had 65 digs and defended off Virginia to secure their 19th win on the season. With only four games left this season, all eyes are on NDVB. The team is still strong this far into the season, even after facing challenging losses. Moreover, Notre Dame Volleyball’s season statistics show exactly how hard the team pushes themselves. As a result, Notre Dame is a very competitive team and keeps growing in skill.
What’s Next for Notre Dame Volleyball
The Irish will fight for their 20th overall win and 10th ACC win against the North Carolina Tar Heels at home on Friday. NDVB is currently 6th in the ACC, right behind North Carolina in 5th.
NCAA releases the 64 Women’s Volleyball qualifying teams on November 26th, along with a schedule of gameplay and locations for each round.
